The simple things in life are getting harder and harder to find, and enjoy. It is becoming more deliberate of an attempt, to seek out the simple things in life, also. To enjoy
the presence of the Father, to enjoy the truth of His love and mercy; to enjoy the overwhelming and always mind boggling reality of the matchless creative power of God... that's what it is to bask in His glory!
The hurried life we live, we live by faith; but the life that has learned the art of admiring stillness and the discipline of being able to think things through... that is to bask in His glory. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, and the glory of kings to search out a thing (Prov. 25:2)
How often the Lord has dropped nuggets of golden eternal truths into my heart, and my hurried life with all it's bombarding thoughts crashing through, make it all the more difficult just to be able to center in on that life changing, life impacting eternal truth. We are the one's who are responsible for the busy schedule we live, so we are the one's who are ultimately responsible for making the necessary changes in order to alleviate some of the busy-ness! With such outpourings of His glory abounding more and more each and every day, I don't want to be so busy that I cannot bask, or fully enjoy, it.
The outpourings of God are for all who will take the time to acknowledge them, and appreciate them. You cannot appreciate something that you don't spend time with. Spend time with God. Let His Word wash through your mind and heart, washing away all the clutter and debris that gathers to it daily. All the complaints that come your way; all the overlooked things you've accomplished; all the times you've been passed by for promotions; all the half finished jobs left for you to finish; all the misconceptions and misunderstandings; all the confusion and chaos of the busy life we live by faith.
Instead, with the washing of the Word comes refreshing, so bask in His glory. Take time to make time, to spend some time, with the Lord. It's the simple things that make us stronger in our day, like fuel for the fire. Take time to make time with the Lord; for the simple things in life are those things He wants us not despising.
ASK: Where am I headed in the clutter of things that fight for my time and attention? Am I too busy to enjoy a conversation with a child?, or the cry of the heart of the elderly? Are there things in my busy schedule that can be let go of, or rearranged?
WORDS TO LIVE BY: It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, and the glory of kings to search out a thing. Proverbs 25:2
